REACH OUT A HAND TO ONE AND INFLUENCE THE CONDITION OF ALL ... LIVING UNITED

United Way 2011 Day of Caring

The Granville County “Day of Caring” consists entirely of employee volunteers who go out to non-profit agencies and lend a helping hand for the day.  Departments not only benefit from exercising their teamwork skills, but also benefit from the camaraderie generated among their employees as they help out at a local non-profit agency.

This is the time of the year that demonstrates that volunteerism is vital to the well being of our community.  It spotlights United Way’s role in bringing volunteers together, empowering them to work together to address some of the urgent needs facing our community.  2011 has has been our best yet!  We had almost 350 volunteers!

1.  Stuff the Bus (August 5-9) This project invited businesses and community members to join together and donate school supplies and money/gift cards to provide for our educators and students.

2.  Day of Caring School Beautification Project  June 15!  This project brought together IBM, Granville Schools, Granville Ed Foundation, and the United Way to help beautify Credle School for its 100th Anniversary this year.  It was a wonderful success!

3. STARS Program  This program runs annually from September thru June and requires gracious volunteers to donate 30-60 minutes per week to read with assigned students.
