The Granville County “Day of Caring” consists entirely of employee volunteers who go out to non-profit agencies and lend a helping hand for the day. This event is a wonderful opportunity to promote teamwork. Departments not only benefit from exercising their teamwork skills, but also benefit from the camaraderie generated among their employees as they help out at a local non-profit agency. The agencies, participants and surrounding community members benefit from the work that is done that day, creating a win-win situation for all involved.
It is a day that demonstrates that volunteerism is vital to the well being of our community. It spotlights United Way’s role in bringing volunteers together, empowering them to work together to address some of the urgent needs facing our community.
The 2010-Day of Caring event will be held on October 9, 2010. Some of the sample projects are: painting, landscaping, construction, or clerical duties. The Day of Caring brochure provides a program summary.
Organizations interested in participating in the 2010 Day of Caring event can complete a registration form that can be downloaded here . The project committee will review the company information and the team will be paired to a project based on size of the team and the number of volunteers needed for the project. (All agency projects are tasks that can be accomplished in one business day.) Registration deadline is August 28, 2009. A project lead will contact you and follow-up on your submission.
To kick things off, join us for the Kickoff Breakfast Rally at 7:30 am the morning of the Day of Caring event at The Granville Athletic Park. The park is located at 4615 Belltown Road, Oxford, NC. We will meet at the Pavilion. Breakfast is provided including lots of coffee to get you going.
