Granville County United Way 2008 Annual Meeting
and Awards Recognition

Special Awards were given to BB&T of Oxford and Suntrust for reaching 100% participation level!

The following companies were recognized as "Pacesetters:"

  • Bandag

  • Suntrust

  • Granville County Schools

  • Flextronics

  • Food Lion

  • Granville Health Systems

  • Ideal Fasteners

  • City of Oxford

  • Hanes

  • Lowes Foods

  • Altec

Highest Gift per Employee:  Bandag continues to receive this recognition year after year - and has been the sole winner of this award for GCUW's entire 20 years.  A major reason for the success of the Bandag campaign was the hard work and tenacity of the campaign coordinator, Mike Romnec.

'Spirit of Giving' Awards

  • 2008 Campaign Champion Award:  Altec/Creedmoor - Joe Goenig, Tony Accetello and their team mad etheir campaign informative and FUN and made their challenging goal with no problem.  Altec had the largest employee campaign with contributions totalling $62,000.

  • 2008 Corporate Spirit Award:  Selectron/Flextronics of Creedmoor.  John Mainey, Jo Towns, and Teresa Walker served as Campaign Loaned Executives, challenging their own employees and their friends across the street at Altec to give generously.

  • 2008 Employee Spirit Award:  Granville County Schools team members continue to out do themselves with each annual campaign.  This campaign involves administrators, teachers, students, and parents - and teaches many lessons about the importance of giving.  This group also enlisted the support of the Granville County Board of Education, which had 100% campaign participation.
