Granville County United Way 2009 Annual Meeting
and Awards Recognition

UNITED WAY MEETS $350,000 CAMPAIGN GOAL / HOSTS ANNUAL MEETING AND VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION DINNER

The Granville County United Way elected its new slate of officers and directors at the 2009-2010 Annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition Dinner on Thursday, April 16, 2009.  The dinner, held at the Oxford Public Works Complex, featured a 50s theme. Guests were treated to hamburgers, fries and sundaes in the United Way Soda Shop.  DJ for the evening was the United Way’s own Wolfman Jack - aka John Mainey .

 

Pictured: Taylor Hiscocks - winner of GCUW Hoola Hoop Contest  Note: in keeping with our fifties theme, we offered several contests including: Hoola Hoop, Largest Bubble Gum Contest - won by Sherri DeBolt( Prize - bag of gum), YoYo Contest - won by Betty Yancey (prize - Bobble Head Elvis).  Taylor's prize: a pair of pink flamingos.

 

 

The dinner provided the opportunity for United Way to recognize the many volunteers, agencies and organizations who have significantly contributed their time, energy and financial resources to benefit the organization during the past year.  2009-2010 Campaign Co- Chairman, John Mainey, presented special awards to companies and businesses from across the county in honor of their successful workplace campaigns. Businesses receiving awards were:

Suntrust – Highest Per Capita Campaign Award

Altec – Largest Campaign Award

Revlon – Corporate Spirit Award

Bandag/Bridgestone – Employee Spirit Award
